The Maxtrax Shackle Shield is a purpose-built protective sleeve designed to improve safety and extend the life of your soft shackles during vehicle recovery. It slides over Maxtrax Core and Fuse Shackles (and most soft shackles on the market) to provide an extra layer of protection against abrasion, sharp edges, and high-load contact points.

Modern recovery points—especially some factory or aftermarket bullbar-mounted designs often feature tight 90-degree edges that aren’t ideal for soft shackles. These edges can cause unnecessary wear or damage to rope fibres during recovery. The Shackle Shield helps solve this by creating a smoother, more forgiving contact surface.

Made from durable yet flexible thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), the Shackle Shield is engineered to maintain strength while protecting rope fibres under load. Its unique “U” shaped profile also helps reduce tight-radius bending, helping to prevent fibre damage and potentially extending the lifespan of your soft shackles.

By adding the Shackle Shield to your recovery setup, you reduce reliance on metal bow shackles in many situations—supporting a lighter, safer, and more modern metal-free recovery system.

Compatibility

The Maxtrax Shackle Shield is designed to fit most soft shackles (up to 14mm diameter excluding woven covers) and is compatible with a wide range of aftermarket rated recovery points, including circular apertures of 40mm+ or elongated openings no smaller than 22mm x 42mm.

It is compatible with many popular aftermarket brands, including: Roadsafe, Ocam, TJM, ARB, Ironman, MCC4x4, KAON, Superior Engineering, ATI, and Rockarmor (and others with similar recovery point designs).

Care & Maintenance
